The graduation of 5 season starters left the Wilton Ice hockey team no choice but to graduate the young players into the role of team leaders. Co-Captains Brian Connelly and Greig Rance were the most experienced of a starting line-up, one which included four sophomores and one junior. But despite the pressures of being relatively young, the team accepted the responsibility and the challenge, nobly facing a difficult schedule including Greenwich, New Canaan and Darien. Fans packed the rink to see Wilton meet Ridgefield in one of the most exciting games of the season. As a whole, the year was one filled with close games, but the Wilton crew proved to themselves and to their fans that once and for all, they were not going to give up. In the end, the team made it to the FCIAC Tier II championships. Joining Rance and Connelly on the front line was assistant captain Rob Hutchinson, honored as All-FCIAC East first team, as well as O’Brian McMahon, Pete Cambell, Chris Connelly and Joe Freimuth. With such a large number of players returning next year, future seasons for the Wilton Warrior Ice Hockey team look bright.
