The freshmen have played a crucial part in the team’s success. 11 players from last year’s Division II state semifinalist team, as well as another good player, Matt Cambell, have departed, which coach Brett Amero has worried about. However, the team has been pleasantly surprised by its performance this year. Goalie Rob Sassone helped the team win the Tier II title in the High School Hall League at Terry Connors rink, which is in Stamford. The team did not get into FCIACs, yet they have consistently played very hard and enjoyed themselves. They should not be disappointed at all, even though they did not necessarily do as well as they did last year, because they can of course use this as a springboard from which to learn and boost morale next year. Plus, their team spirit was tops.
